The luxury German sports car manufacturer Porsche is not a company to sit on their laurels and watch the world go by. Even in with the current economic uncertainty, Porsche are bucking the trend and seeing there vehicles excel in sales around the globe.
Ever since the first Porsche cars were exported outside of Germany across Europe and to the USA they immediately have had a loyal following. First with the Porsche 356 in the early 1950's and then again in the 1960's with the now cult classic 911 model, Porsche have always kept their fan base wanting for more.
So it's no surprise to find this prestigious German sports car company has some new models up its sleeve for 2012, as well as some new cars featuring new technology on the horizon too.
Probably the most talked about car from Porsche this year is the new Porsche 911 (or 991 as its also referred as) and will be initially featured in two models, the Carrera and the Carrera S. The 911 is still the fundamental lifeblood of the Porsche sports car range and most of the range has adopted styling influences from the 911, as you can see glimpses of this across the line up.

The new 911 (or 991) is the third generation of the 911 form, which is a completely new design and built on a new chassis, with all new engine options. The Carrera will be powered by a 350bhp 3.4-liter engine and the Carrera S will feature a 400 hp 3.8-litre engine. Porsche are also launching soft top Cabriolet versions in each model, these are expected to be launched in the spring.
The other big revelation is the 911's new "H-gate" seven speed gearbox which makes this car so unique, as it will be the first road going production sports car to feature such a gearbox, as currently all other luxury sports cars utilise the steering wheel electric-paddle configuration gear change systems. The H-gate 7-speed gearbox design is similar to that seen on many race cars.
Next is the new Panamera GTS which is due to be launched in early 2012. The Porsche Panamera GTS is a luxury four-door saloon and all-new car from Porsche. It features a naturally aspirated V8 engine which produces 430bhp, the 0-100km/h is just a mere 4.3 seconds. The Panamera GTS has distinct lines and borrows some of the front end design from the 911, where as the rear of the car has a distinct feel of the 70's classic the 928GTS. Either way these are just some of the great Porsche models to look out for in 2012.
